Jos - Would you be able to tell me if a leaky bladder can be a result from foaling? My mare still has a discharge, but it seems to be urine - which, she basically squirts when she gets excited - i.e., if the other horses get too close to the fence and her foal. The vet seemed to imply that she had the condition prior to foaling, which is definitely not the case. He also commented that she may always be "messy".
Is this something that can result from foaling? I hope it's not permanent, as my daughter wants to show this mare next year and messy certainly won't go over in the show pen.
Thanks for the reply. It must be incontinence, as she is the alpha mare and has never exhibited this behavior.
Hopefully, as you said, it will clear up with time.
