I have mare who is 300 days along. During the past week she has starting fluffing her hay instead of eating it when she is stalled. I check the hay before I feed it, no mold or foreign material. She eats the hay well when she is out side.
Is she trying to make a nest? Her stall is bedded with shavings for now. I wasn't going to go to straw for a couple more weeks at least.

My mare nest's quite frequently in her last month. She has 3 1/2 foot sides of straw around her box and loves to rearragne everything for me. She loves building one at the door. I'm guessing maybe it's a bit of a draft. She will occasionally do it with her hay as well. Terri

Yes, she's doing it by the door.
When I remove it, she seems pretty depressed. I think I'll give her straw, maybe then she will actually eat her hay.
