I took my mare in last Thursday for a 15 day post breeding ultrasound. Vet says she is not in foal and she has a 2.8cm follicle on one ovary (some smaller ones on the other). So we plan on re ultrasounding her Monday as we "should" be around a 4cm follicle and can order semen. Well I took her in this morning and she only had a 2.9cm follicle. The vet did not feel that she had ovulated as there was no presence of a CH/CL(?). I asked if there is any chance he could have missed a pregnancy and he did not feel so as he felt she had too much edema to be pregnant. He has also checked quite thoroughly. He said we could give her a shot of estrumate but I do not want to do this incase we are missing something (o.k. one can live in hope!) So at this time we are planning on checking her on Wednesday and see what if anything is happening. Just wondering if anyone has had this happen and if she does progress is it usually a viable heat cycle? Thanks for any comments!
