I am preparing to put a deposit down on my first mare purchased specifically for the purpose of being a broodmare. Starting the nail biting stage. . .! She is 12 and has had several nice foals. The seller is a reputable farm and states that the mare breeds and foals easily. I have no reason to doubt this, but I will, of course, request to have the sale conditional on a successful breeding soundness exam.
I hate to leave anything up to interpretation ;) . What specifically should I ask for the exam to include? The mare is 900 miles from me, so I will not be as involved in the process as I would like. Any additional advice?
Thank you (and thank you for the awesome course also - I attended one this past fall)!
