A Nursemare is a Mare that is bread for the purpose of haveing a foal that the nursemare owner will raise at the nursemare farm. Then The nursemare will raise an orphan foal at another farm. Some Nursemares are brougt into milk with the use of drugs. This process is not always the way to go as the Mare has to be willing to except a strange foal. This takes us back to the question of the difference between a true Nursemare and just another broodmare. While some mares are sweet and gentle and on ocasion are willing to except another foal doesn't make them a true Nursemare. Some mares that have lost their own foals can be used as a nursemare if they will except another foal without force. The true Nursemare will except and protect orphan Foals year after year without the use of force. Hope I helped a little.
