I am confused. I have a dun filly that also carries the creme gene. Her test came back that she is also homozygous for Agouti- what does this mean? She is bred to my palomino stallion for 2007 what is the options I have for color? Thanks
it means you will never get black, or grullo, but you can get red if she's not homozygous for extension, so you can have bay or sorrel (50%), with or without dun (50%), and/or cream (75%), buckskin, dun, palomino, dunalino, red dun.
So if I breed her to my grullo stallion in 2007- who is not homozygous for black or for Agouti I will not get a grullo? That is a bummer since I bought her to specifically breed to my grullo.
Tansy you are correct she will never produce a gullo or a black.
