Hello, Could anyone help me understand this homozygous tobiano gene stuff? My mare and her last year's foal both tested for homozygous tobiano gene. My mare is breed to a bay breeding stock paint for April 2006. I was told now that she is going to have color foal.Could you all help me understand this better. THANKS MELISSA
Homozygous for Tobiano means that your mare will always have a paint foal. You can cross her with a breeding stock, or even a quarter horse, or any other kind of horse, and you will always get a paint foal.
Debbie, My mare Annie is breed to a bay breeding stock paint. The stud dam was palomino and the sire was a overo black and white. I also had my mare check for the lwo gene, she didn't have the gene thank GOD.I was worried about a lethal white foal, but now I don't have to worried about that. Can I still get a tovero from my mare Annie homozygous Tobiano gene. The mare is homozgyous tobiano black and white tobiano, the stud was the breeding bay paint. thanks MELISSA
