Hi, My friend has a yearling colt out of my Dark palomino stallion ( carries the rabicano gene) and his dam is a bay & white tobiano. She sent me these pictures wondering what color he is? we registered him as a sorrel, but she is starting to doubt it with his frosted coat. Any suggestions would be great. thanks.. |

He looks sorrel to me to but there is a place that will test his hair to see if he is a dilute. May put every ones mind at ease .... nice boy to I might add! |

Definitely looks sorrel. I would think the frosting in his coat is coming from the rabicano gene rather than any type of a dilution gene. |

He does look sorrell (and very very cute )But I read somewhere just the other day that arabs often throw a frosted gene in a magazine I was reading. It was about popular crosses for the arab and under vets comments about the breed it said that they throw this gene and it effects the coat colour of foals - What breeds are the stallion and dam in your case? |

The stallion is a AQHA and the dam is a APHA. This colt has been changing colors since he was born, he is very unique, this is my stallions only yearling so I will have to wait and see if the foals of this year do the same thing. I just assumed it was the rabicino gene responsible for his crazy color. |
