Some of you may remember Levi...solid paint dam (registered black but...she's definately dark bay) and a sorrel blanket appy sire.

Levi is just about two months old now. And, for the past four weeks, he has had DRAMATIC color changes each and every week. I've never had a baby, much less an appy baby, so this is just amazing to me. He was born a sorrel blanket appy and is now mottling like crazy on his under belly and hind quarters. Many of his spots are turning black and, those that aren't already, will. I wet him down the other day and that is when I noticed it. When I push the hair around, I can see the black. But...I can also see some gray.

Both of his eyes are still blue. And, the black around his eyes and mouth become more prominent by the day. Look at the way his face is starting to shed out. Any guesses on the final product?

hahahaah!!! Guess all you want....but you won't know until he's done changing! That's what I love about appies, if you don't like the one ya got, wait a year and he'll likely be all different. My bet is he stays sorrel, and ads a few black spots in his blanket

Wendy: LOL! That's why those of us who breed color horses (I have paints) wait until they are almost weanlings before we register them...haha...you never really know what color you may have until all that baby hair sheds off.
