Encantador has arrived at the farm. He is 5 months old and tested eeAa and I believe he will go gray. In the meanwhile he has a very interesting coat color, His mane is cream, his tail a mixture of gray, brown, and red, his legs dark palomino. His father is bay so I know he is heterozygous for gray. His grand sire carries the Pearl gene. I have pulled tail hair for more testing. what do you think he could be. In any case he is RARE for the P,R.E. breed. The other pix is his full brother, a rabicano chestnut....the combo of this sire and dam have produced 3 very unusual babies

supposedly there are no roans in the breed...the studbook is just starting to recognize any dilutes....even chestnut is new to the book as of about 3 years ago. Today we do see a buckskin, perlino, or cremello but not very often. They are extremely expensive.

Hi Terry...his coloring looks very much like my yearling filly, Gracie. Note PRE but Paso Finos...so spanish horse cousins, my mare is grey, the stallion was chestnut. My fill has the flaxen hair in her main and tail, lots of white hairs, like a roaning effect, specially around her rear flank area. I had her tested for grey gene and she does not carry the grey gene. Paso's don't recognize the roan coloring either...they have her listed as a Chestnut. He is a very handsome boy!!!

Got the test results back from Davis...he is eeAa Gg no pearl.
Encantador
I body clipped him and he is an apricot color with white spots the size of quarters here and there. His legs are dark apricot with one white sock. He has a flaxen mane and dark tail like a liver chestnut would. I really like him...very calm and easy to work with...tall, leggy with big stride and noticeable over stride at the walk.
