I'm new to the App. world and 2 months ago I bought a 10 month old bay minature colt. He looked solid and was sold cheap because breeder breeds for loud color.

A bit after I got him I shaved him down (too hot live in FL) and he had a few white hairs around his butt, not much just looked like a bit of roaning or having scraped hair off type thing.

However 2 days ago I shaved him back down again and he has white hairs everywhere on his back and butt. Makes him look like a blue roan almost but I dont notice any on his belly. He has white in his main and tail and white hairs on his neck and ears, none on his face.

His sire is a buckskin leapord app and his mom is a app bred black mare.

I know that app. can change all their life but what is he doing? I'm confused as I've never had an app before, nor a minni.

As a miniature app breeder, I may be able to shed some light on this. More than likely he is just roaning out....but with him being so young, there is a possibility that next year this time he has a white blanket...that's the beauty of appaloosas, you just never know what they'll do.
