I am currently doing a Bachelors Degree in Equine Science, and I have an assignment for my genetics class- unfortunately, I seem to have stumbled on a problem. I am assigned to find the genes that produce face and leg markings. For example- a solid black horse, with NOTHING else but a small star- what is acting on the horse to produce that star?
If any of you can help me with this, I would be most grateful- so far I have found general information such as "many gened act on markings"- or "it is thought that the sabino might create face markings"- but nothing specific
In most cases it is sabino. Some cases it can be frame or splash... but almost always sabino.
