Hi, I'm new in the group, I don't have a question at this moment but I would love to talk about Champagne color to anyone else with horses or mules of any Champagne color. We raise gaited mules from my MFT mares and our sorrel with light points mammoth jack. I presently have chestnut sabino, black, seal bay, classic champagne mares and most recently a buckskin filly....future mule mom from my seal bay mare and a crememlo MFT stallion. Right now, I'm waiting for my Classic Champagne mare to foal a mule foal and hoping for Champagne. She was tested at UC Davis and my color chances are sorrel, black, bay, classic champagne, amber champagne and gold champagne. Callie doesn't have a cream gene etc or that would add even more to the mix. Color genetics in horses is fascinating enough, but you ought to try adding the donkeys genes into the mix and biy can you get some surprises.
