Im not up on the genetics of toveros. I am looking at a buckskin mare that is registered as a tovero on her papers, but looks like tobiano to me. Her sire and dam were both tobianos, and grandparents were tobianos crossed with QH's. Im not sure why shes registered as a tovero.... anyway,, my question is, when crossed with a homozygous tobiano, what are the chances of a homozygous offspring?

Toveros are basically Tobianos that show some characteristics of overos. White face, jagged edged spots, etc. Although a tovero that came from a tobiano overo cross might carry both genes,( I am unsure), a tovero would have the tobiano gene so in your case she would have the same chance of producing a Homozygous tobiano as a tobiano would. As you said that there appears to be no overos in her pedigree in the last couple generations I would guess she is probably a tobiano.
I guess if the stud is homozygous and the mare is tob/tov they would have a 50% chance of producing Homozygous offspring.
Hope that helped.

thanks Emily. Her website says homozygous tobiano on it, I was checking her prodgeny records and saw she was registered tovero. She is loudly colored and pretty mare, looks tobiano to me, no bald face or blue eyes etc. I just wondered if a tovero could be homozygous for tobiano or whether she was registered wrong. She has foaled 5 paints out of 5 on her records and some of those were to non-homozygous paints, though I think all were paint sires. (Id have to check that to be sure)

This is a picture of the buckskin mare. I think she looks more tobiano than tovero.

She looks tobiano and also carries the typical "paw Prints" in her pattern. I know that doesn't mean 100% of the time they are homozygous, but since this mare had been listed as such, I'd say by looking at her, she is!
She is super pretty too!

Oh well, guess I will wait and see if the owner wants to part with her or not. In the meantime I will do some more checking on her.
