Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me a likely color of a foal I will get if.... I breed a Sorrel mare to a bay stallion? or if I breed a Sorrel mare to a sorrel, bay or black overo Stallion? Any suggestions on the color prospects would be helpful! Thanks in advance! |

I bred my Sorrel mare to a bay and got nice dark chestnut. I bred her to a chestnut twice and got two very light chestnut fillies with flaxen mane and tail. Then I bred her to a big Dun (buckskin) and got a nice dark bay??? Grandsire is bay... LOL.. I just new I was going to get a buckskin or paly...HUM? Good thing I like bay.. There are some fun charts to look at. Have fun. It is all so interesting what can happen. Having a color history on your horse will help..

I have a bay mare that with three foals sired by my sorrel stallion produced...#1 bay, #2 liver chestnut, #3 bright sorrel. I can't wait to see what she has for color this year. |
