I've heard people say that there are some formulas to use if you measure certain areas on your foal to determine an adult height. Is this true? Do you have to wait until they're a certain age? Also, I have a 15.2 hand mare who's bred to a 16.1 hand stallion. My mare's sire was 16.2 hands and her dam was 17.1 hands. If the measurement is 15 1/2 inches then the approx mature height is 15.2. Another saying is that if the foal a day or so after birth can walk under the mare then it will be the same height as the mare but if it is too tall then it will be taller than the mare.
