Hey Jos, I love your stallion calculator but I don't have internet in my lab so I can't use it. I'm using Access and I have figured out concentration, progressive motility, semen/extender ratio and PM sperm needed per dose. But I'm having trouble figuring out the formula to get the PM sperm/extender in a fixed amount. It's driving me nut because I use to be an Algebra wiz in college.
Even if I don't use access to do a data base I need to know how to make it fit.
A question about "Final Desired Extended Concentration (in millions of sperm per ml): x10-6/ml" Why 25 million or 50 million per ml? Why send 25 million/ml when you can send 50 million/ml? (Think I know the answer) Thank Jos
Good luck on building a calculator - I wrote 64 pages of code to run the one that's on here!
Some seminal plasma is more toxic than others, so requires more dilution. The majority of stallions will do better at 25 m/ml however if the initial concentration is extremely high (and hence lower volume of seminal plasma) going with the higher concentration is often possible (which uses less extender).
