Of all the available programs that I have had the opportunity to use. This one in my humble opinion is the best available for not only reproductive management but clinic, farm, show, training etc. It can be customized to each situation and I have found it to be very fast and data safe.

*2 Group or individually assignable

*4 Cut & Paste is a standard feature of all Windows software
*5 All programs have many income analysis reports including at least service provider and service type
*6 Most programs with batch processing create a list of treatments and apply the list to animals as they are selected from the database. In reverse batch system the animals are selected as a group and the treatments are applied one at a time to the group.

*8 Also allows e-mailed reminders
*9 Paradox (DOS) and Delphi (Windows) are database programming languages
*10 This is the "One check Question." The question here is, "Assuming I am a new user and buy all my hardware elsewhere and that I only want to write one check to your company and that I want a single user, Windows based system with at least one full year of support, how much do I need to make the check out for?"
*11 ODBC is "Open DataBase Construction" and is a standard which allows for communication between unrelated Windows based software programs
*12 DOS version available for much less
*13 Will allow remote data entry via barcodes with barcode module
*14 Includes accounting, boarding, medical records
*15 "UD" refers to a feature that is currently under development
I tried to purchase EDMS, filled out their questionnaire, sent them the $1250 to build my modules and never heard from them again. I called several times and when I FINALLY got a hold of a human they told me that thier current customers took priority and that they would send me my software when they "got around to it". Not exactly my idea of sound business practices. Not only is this a rotten way to treat a new customer but you have to wonder how they treat their current ones.
Needless to say I cancelled my order, got my money back (after several MORE phone calls and weeks) and we are now beta testing our own software creation.

I like HorseTrak and use it for my breeding program. They will soon be releasing an updated version that sounds wonderful with an improved business section. This will be a free upgrade for people who buy now. The support is wonderful and they even have an email discussion group which is moderated and questions answered by support. I suppose if you wanted to join the discussion group you could see if this is the program for you! Here is the website, I use HorseTrak Gold and it does my breeding records, customer data base, pedigrees with pictures, health records, showing and billing. http://www.horsetrak.com I have tried other programs and this one is best, especially if you aren't a computer whiz! Very user friendly!
Does anyone know of a computer program that can be used on a Macintosh computer? If you do, please contact me directly at Wildwoodapp@aol.com

let me tell you about HorseTrak...they are the biggest rip-offs in the industry. I downloaded the program and TRIED to use it...full of bugs. Then they came out with an "upgrade". Installed it, guess what? It dumped ALL of the previous info that I had put in, I couldn't access my pedigrees, eventually figured out they were gone! Tried to get tech support...no way. Tried to call...no answer. Stopped payment on the program, THEN they tried to communicate. Too Late! My advice: Don't bother with HorseTrak.

Rene Dudley has a great program that she's developed with the help of several farms. It's called HiMarks. We helped with the beta testing, we have over 230 horses on our place and I think it's a great program. Look at it here: http://www.himarks.net/ Have Fun.

EDMS is no longer available. the man who made it killed himself and therefore tech support is gone. it's a great program but we are looking into finding a new one for next season.
Horse Pro - The list you have posted is indeed a very good one...you do however need to be very careful as cezanne has pointed out. I understand that this topic is a bit dated, but am positive that there are many new programs available now.
Hello, I breeding horses in Russia and tried lot software for organize my stud. This is very big problem, because russian companies not doing software for animals. So, I think, if one company doing multi-language horse breeding software, its will great and open big east market. Most, what I like, this is germany "pferdescout software" http://www.scoutsystems.info/Pferdezucht-Software-Pferdescout-Pferde-Zuechter. This is the best (breeding, economic, organizer) and only one which understand russian alphabet. Just in german and also not interesting other languages.
Yes, I need to find a good program. I currently manage 12 horses on my own personal property but a total of about 60 with more to be added next year. I've created my own but it's not a program, just a series of files placed in well organized folders.
Doesn't anyone know if there are trial versions of these different softwares?
