Jos.....just a quick question to ask what the time frame for this particular container is? it only has one freezing can as opposed to two found in the big blue container. thanks!!

I suspect that you meant the fairly new-to-the-market Equitainer II rather than the Equitainer I.
The Equitainer I is recommended as being good for up to 70 hours, the Equitainer II (the one with only one coolant can) is recommended as being good for up to 48 hours.
Cost for the two is only minimally different - the Eq. II is about $30 cheaper.
Size is only marginally smaller, so shipping costs will be slightly reduced, but not a whole bunch.
To be honest for what it's worth, I would feel inclined to stick with the longer duration (dual coolant can) Equitainer I in case anything goes wrong in transit and the shipment gets delayed. I know I have no plans to buy the other version.....
Hope this helps.

After having TWO containers in a row missing in action, I agree with Jos. Luckily, the semen was still viable, and the mare is pregnant. 48 hours would not have been enough in these cases.
Thanks for the quick response!! Actually, this container is smaller than the two coolant can one..could it be from years gone by? It said on the side in bold letters...HAMILTON THORN I I have never seen this before and when it was placed next to the 2 coolant can container, it was much smaller. Any ideas? What would the hold time be? Thanks so much !!

It's unlikely to be from the distant past. The original Equitainer was actually a plastic 5 gallon pail - I even know of some that are still in use they're so durable!!
The 3 models of Equitainer available can be seen by clicking here and as you can see, the Equitainer II is smaller than the Equitainer I, although that doesn't mean that what you have is indeed an Equitainer II!
Perhaps you can contact Hamilton Research Inc. to find out more - their contact information is also available on that site.
I'd be interested to hear what you find out!
