Shame...!We provide the information on our website free of charge. We work hard to keep it up to date with current information and images. It is a lot of work.Periodically, we are contacted by individuals, publications or organizations who wish to reproduce some of the articles or photos on their own website or in printed format. We appreciate those contacts and in most cases where we own the copyright (which we do not with all articles - some are used by us under licence and with permission) approval for use is granted with a few minor requirements such as:
Sadly the following websites either did not have the courtesy to contact us, were refused use for some reason (rare) and yet did it anyway, or have not complied with the requested requirements. This is probably just the "tip of the iceberg" and we have no idea how many of our articles or images have actually been used without permission! We do know that periodically we get notification from Universities that one of their students has plagiarized an article in a presented paper, or as with some of the items below, we get contacted by someone who says "Have you seen this...?"!! If you happen to know one of the people below, you might have a friendly word with them that perhaps plagiarism or copyright infringement is not a particularly honourable activity. For those that are a business, it also reflects badly upon them as to credibility (if they are offering the information as their own production) and honesty. Food for thought perhaps for potential customers. Quite apart from the irritation factor of having one's work stolen, there is also another important consideration with the written word. The articles that we present on the website often contain dynamic information that changes when new research is released. We can update those articles - and do! With articles that have been "released" by us for use on other websites, the importance of the link back to our site is that if the article has become outdated, we hope that the reader will visit our site and see an updated version. If the material has been stolen and no links or acknowledgements included, this of course is not possible. As a site dedicated to spreading the most up-to-date information, you will understand that really bothers us...
