Dam is my 23 year old palomino fox trotter mare Goldie. This will be her last baby and hopefully a keeper. Her last foal has resided in Germany since 2008 and we didn't think we would be able to rebreed. We had trouble with the ver aged stallion I really wanted to breed her to, but took her to a younger stallion last June in a more managed situation and it worked! The stallion is a black and white homozygous tobiano, so whatever we get, we should get some white too! Stallion is heterozygous for black, so that opens up more possibilities. Can't wait to see what we get, but whatever color it is, it should be a good, solidly built fox trotting horse!

I enjoy going out at feeding time and feeling the foal bump around in there. Yesterday was a really good time to feel it. Actually I felt a bit sorry for Goldie since she has another 3 months of this! :o

By the way, I had posted on here before as Molly, but it had been so long ago that I didn't remember the password and getting a new one wasn't working. Oh well.

I've been watching my mare and getting very sleep deprived in the last week.

Anbody get theirs yet?

So much for mid-May, we are still playing the waiting game. :^^ She looks so ready The udder is hard and fairly big, but refuses to wax and she is just in a holding pattern. I did not expect her to go past 340 days at all because she hasn't in the past, but she is about 7 years older now. :< Praying she can foal during the long weekend and we can all get on with our lives!

We did finally get our foal, a colt on May 26, 2014. Can't remember how many days we were at atm, maybe 351. He is a lovely fellow, a black and white tobiano. I was so relieved when he finally got here and all was well with him and his dam. We had no doubt that we had a live one when we went out when the forelegs were sticking out and saw them flexing. Goldie has recovered well and he is doing his part to see that she gets back in shape. It is remarkable just how fast the mares tuck back up. Also how fast a slender newborn beefs up on mom's milk! If I knew how to get a photo on here I would. I have lots of photos of him on Facebook! Oh, I can share a video link! He is about 11 days here and we call him Topper.
