What is this foal's color?

Meet Rowdy, a 3 month old QH colt.

We were told that his sire is grullo, but we have not seen him.

We rescued Rowdy's dam and bought the colt to keep from separating them with him this young. (Actually, he is my birthday present! :D ). I would also like opinions as to the coloring of his dam, Mandy.

No genetic testing has been done, as we do not plan to breed either of them. I would just like some opinions, please. Thanks! (Also, any name suggestions would be appreciated for the colt.)

Foal looks palomino. Dam looks like a tobiano that went grey. Cant tell from pics if colt will turn grey also.

We found out a little more about the mare's background. Her sire was a registered Paint and her dam was an Arabian (I thought she had a bit of Arabian in her - she just looks like she does). The foals' sire was a grullo.

Its really common for arabians to grey out, born with a bold colour and turn some form of roan. Some go completely white. Id say your mare was a brightly marked baby that greyed out. Your foal looks palomino but dark, lots of black hair. It might go darker or lighter, as an arabian does or simply stay the same...You have a wide variety of genetics there and you probably wont know whats going to happen until Rowdy turns 5!

Rowdys a great name by the way.

Looks like he will grey out, when Pallies turn grey they get black hairs through their mane and tail and get a sooty look to their body... if he doesn't grey out then he is a smutty pally.
Have you got new born photos?
Foals who are grey will be born quite a rich colour

Sorry, no newborn photos. The guy we got him from doesn't care enough to take pics. Thanks for everyone's input. I guess I'll have to wait and see! :^^
