Very Pregnant Maiden

Postby Becca » Sun Apr 20, 2014 1:14 pm

I have a maiden mare that is due to foal any day, or so we keep saying. She started bagging up at day 287, had her evaluated, one vet said she was going to slip a foal, the other said she was fine. She has since carried until day 330. She waxed up on Thursday last week, and was vet checked again while he was pulling coggins. He said she was waxed up proper, but thought she had one more day. She has freckles on her teats, is found laying down quite often. Has been found posturing at 2 am, only nibbles on her hay throughout the day, but gobbles grain (normally eats everything with zeal) and has little white freckles on around her teats. Her teats are HUGE, and very firm. You cannot express anything from them, but before everything has been yellow and very sticky (has been for a month now). She has gotten much calmer than she normally is, and is very people needy, all of this has been going on for about a week or so. Last night her teats were bigger than they have ever been, and her vulva keeps going up an down. Any ideas? This is not my first foal.
