To post here, you must obtain a user name and password (follow that link or the one above to do so!), which will also allow you other benefits, such as being able to edit and delete your messages, remain permanently logged in (using a cookie), and search for recent posts made since your last visit. We have found it necessary to make subscription mandatory for posting in order to avoid being inundated with "spam" posts advertising a variety of products that we really don't want... A sad reflection of the abusive nature of the Internet...
This board is for use by any who have a question related to any aspect of equine reproduction, or who have an answer to, or comment on, a question already posted. Please note that it is not for commercial advertising (including but not limited to stallion advertising), or for promoting other boards if the discussion topic is already present here. The list of categories below is by no means all-inclusive! If the subject you wish to discuss does not appear to be covered by an existing heading, or if you think there is another main category that should be added, please post your topic or suggestion in the "Miscellaneous and Suggestions for a New Topic" category, and the discussion may be continued there, or we may add a new category to the main list!
We would like to make two points clear that will make the operation of the board more efficient and enjoyable for all:
1: Please make sure that anything you post is in a relevant category otherwise it becomes very confusing and it is likely that your question or post will be missed! We will periodically move those that are listed in the wrong place to a more suitable location, so you may have to go looking for your post when you return if it doesn't start out in the right place!!
2: When a popular thread reaches around 200 posts (sometimes less) it will be noticed that loading becomes slower, and in the worst case you may encounter an "internal server error". This can be avoided by someone (if the moderator doesn't) starting a new thread!!! Please feel free to do that, and it will help everyone!
For viewers interested in a longer term commitment than a bulletin board, we would like to bring to your attention the excellent Facebook Group "EquineRepro", which we manage and moderate, details of which can be obtained here. This is a thoroughly recommended discussion group, which is kept strictly on-topic, is free, and with over 5,700 subscribers, answers lots of questions!!
IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Do not make any donations or payments to persons requesting support to allegedly assist this bulletin board!
It has recently come to our attention that a "PM" was circulated to board users requesting assistance in maintaining this board. The request contained a link to a page which presumably pays commissions on purchases made through the linked page (the parent site is http://www.payday-dreams.co.uk/). Equine-Reproduction.com, LLC did not make that request, is not connected in any way with that request, and does not receive any benefit from that request. It is a scam!
We have contacted the "payday-dreams" site, but have not as yet had a response.

Discuss all kinds of problems encountered in breeding mares from not standing for live cover, through to not getting pregnant for unknown reasons!

Foaling Announcements
The place to make your "New Arrival" announcements! We have placed sub-folders for the year and would suggest posting new threads within that year's folder in order to keep things somewhat organized! Note that photos can be displayed!
Hormonal Manipulation
Use of exogenous hormones in the mare to induce estrus; maintain or end pregnancy; and also the use of hormones to stimulate or quieten stallions.

Nurse Mares Available or Needed
Please feel free to list your needs or availability of nursemares here. We do however recommend that you also list your animals at the Cyberfoal.com web site, which is specifically designed to assist those requiring the service and therefore has a larger number of interested people visiting than we do here.
Additionally, there are colostrum banks that are able to provide colostrum for those in need. One such bank is operated by the Kentucky Thoroughbred Farm Managers' Club in Lexington, Kentucky USA.
Another US location is the National Colostrum Network, run by the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.
Note that these facilities are often also in need of colostrum, so if you have several mares foaling successfully, you may be able to support the supplies which often run low during breeding season - contact them for more details.
Pregnant Mare and the Newborn Foal
Once the mare is in foal the question period should be over, right? Wrong! It's only just beginning! Discuss ideas and tips here for management techniques for the pregnant mare, and the new born foal and it's mother.
